#109: Perfect Blue
Colour therapy in icy silks, holographic eyelids, and tiled bathrooms.
Dear readers, open this email in your browser to read it in full—you might be looking at a truncated version.
Lately I’ve been drawn to blue: zellige tiled bathrooms, powdery eye lids, the prospect of swimming in salty water. I’m likely not alone: blue is one of the few colors proven to lower heart rates and blood pressure. It’s associated with recessions and broader times of uncertainty, as people instinctively gravitate towards “safe” neutrals and navy hues. I’m sure that my body is also just craving some Vitamin D, and few colours scream salty high summer like a Hockney pool blue.
To get myself in the mood, I collated this while propped up on our blue couch, dressed in a navy boat neck sweater, and was covered toe-to-sternum by a blue quilt. My own private boat: more L’empire des Lumières and Frances Featherstone than sun and sand, but we make do.
Sidenote: I’ve also been loving the recent spate of blue makeup launches, from Fara Homidi’s very expensive but very chic eyeshadow palette and Chanel’s denim-themed collection (including this baby blue sheer lip), to a limited edition eyeshadow palette by Dior.
I hope this email brings your inbox a wash of calm.
