In April, I took photos in all the black dresses I own, knowing the category next on my list. Up there with black dresses, I am too easily persuaded by good jeans—to the point that many of the ones below are similar (to be generous), identical (to be honest). It’s very reminiscent of the belt scene in The Devil Wears Prada.
I won’t pretend these all get worn the same amount, but I feel they all serve a purpose, and I wear denim almost every single day. I have sweatpant jeans; clown jeans; eating jeans; cocktail (standing) jeans; light and dark wash jeans. Because they are heavy and take up a good amount of room, I really try to only keep pairs I reach for, minus, as you’ll see below, a single sentimental item. No one needs a 15-piece denim drawer, I will admit so much.
Having done this exercise, I will much more diligently be putting the jeans down next time I’m en route to a dressing room. No more jeans shopping for 2025—there, now I have to hold myself to it, with you as my witness.
